RMOL. During the meeting of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) dated April 7 to 19, 2013, the Indonesian government continues to guard and defend the interests of the national economy. Thamrin, Director General for Asia Pacific and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who also serves as Chairman of the APEC Senior Officials Meeting, 2013, that during a trial, Indonesia gained support Senior officials from the 21 APEC member economy in terms of issues of national priority. It includes development and infrastructure investment, empowerment of women in the economy, increase the competitiveness of SMEs, expanding access to health care, promotion of cooperation cross-country education, mainstreaming marine issues, kesiaptanggapan disasters, renewable energy development, the development of the tourism sector as well as ensuring market international remains open for Indonesian export as outlined in the vision of the leaders of Economics at the Bogor Goals.
In addition, Indonesia also led the connectivity framework plan in Asia Pacific that will provide convenience for the people of Indonesia and the Asia Pacific region to travel and carry out trade.
"Going forward, through this framework, it will be increased physical connectivity (such as bridges, ports, airports), institutional (regulatory improvement and transparency), and human relationships (such as exchange of students, researchers and culture)," said the Ambassador , Yuri O. Thamrin, in a written statement a few moments ago (Friday, 19/4).
APEC meeting in Surabaya called Senior Officials' Meeting is part of the preparation for the APEC Summit meeting in Bali. The first meeting of SOM or SOM I, was held on January 25 -7 February 2013 in Jakarta. 2013 APEC SOM II consists of 23 meeting of the 11 APEC working groups and committees as well as 11 workshops and attended by 1167 delegates and 72 guests. The series continued the meeting of APEC SOM III will be held on 22 June to 6 July 2013 in the field, while the APEC summit in Bali in October 2013.
Indonesia's total trade in 1989 to all APEC member economies is 29.9 billion dollars, about 78 percent of the total trade between Indonesia and all over the world. In 2011, Indonesia's exports to the rest of APEC member economies to reach 289.3 billion dollars, about 75 percent of the total trade between Indonesia and all over the world. Thus there has been increased almost 10-fold, from 1989 to 2011, or 22 years.
Investment value of the APEC economies to Indonesia in 2010 amounted to 9.26 billion U.S. dollars in 2011 and increased to 10.7 billion dollars. In addition, in 2011, 10 of the 20 APEC member economies included in the list of 20 biggest investor in Indonesia.
APEC, established in 1989, is a forum for economic cooperation in the Pacific Rim with 21 member economies. APEC member economies are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United States , and Vietnam.
